Anthropologie Event via OHIDESIGNBLOG

I had the pleasure of helping host a DIY Event at Anthropologie with the lovely Ana Spick of We Love Citrus. If you don’t know Ana, she is the craft QUEEN… so of course, they asked her to come up with a craft that all of the attendees could create. There was such a great turnout of San Diego locals that wanted to hang out and craft with us for the afternoon.

I think my favorite part of decorating the tables was tossing confetti everywhere. It really adds something to the craft paper…. don’t you think?

Ana and I put together these cute goodie bags for everyone to take home. There were some amazing donators to the content of the bags:  Thank you to The Love Stitch for donating the crochet bow rings, My Three Sons for the sweet heart barrettes, Red Star Ink for the lovely heart cards, and Whisker Graphics for the cute glassiness bags.

Dress Your Walls Elegant display newsite

After my first couple of weeks at my new job, I have become more familiar with many new art vendors and have been opening my mind to new ways of filling blank wall space. Let me just say…there is a lot of really bad art out there, but after searching through pages and pages for THAT ONE… I have found I really enjoy the process of finding a piece that completes a room. Art has the ability to ground a vignette, add dimension to the wall and be that pop of color the room needs. It just takes some time. I have always been really inspired by SFGirlByBay’s Column “Art Goes Here” – she consistently amazes me with the art/artists she curates on her blog. I hope to bring more art inspired posts to the ol’ blog every once in a while. Heck – it might even be a regular thing.

Here are some of my current favorite art pieces:

I am also a big fan of this gallery hanging system company called AS Hanging Systems – they have some really awesome products for installing art without ruining your walls. I am obsessed already!! Check out their website here.

im here

hey guys – i am sorry i have been so mia lately. It’s been a little crazy over here with starting my new job, wedding planning, creative connection event prep and freelance projects. Whew… I just stressed myself out a little as I was typing it all. But I am very happy to announce my blog redesign will be launching in the next week or so! I cannot wait to show you guys what amazing things Jordan of Create Like Crazy has up her sleeves for this little piece of the internet. With the blog facelift will also come more content + series ideas + etc. I cannot contain my excitement!!

new job via ohidesignblog

Ah, life…it’s so crazy sometimes. Especially when opportunities arise during the most unexpected times. For those of you who have not heard –  I recently left my full-time position at West Elm to be a designer for a local interior design firm. It was obviously a tough decision as you all know I adore West Elm, the projects and my colleagues. However, I know from a long-term goal point of view… I made the right decision! It’s such an awesome company and the atmosphere is incredible. I mean take a look at the photo below… the ceilings are to die for. Also, my new coworkers decorated my desk to welcome me on my first day – which of course made me feel right at home.

I am so excited for what’s to come and I am also very excited that I am still able to take on freelance projects with my company With Love, Design. Everything seems to be falling into place and I couldn’t be more thankful for each person I have met here in San Diego… the city keeps getting smaller and smaller. As in, everyone is starting to feel like family. It makes me excited to think about my wedding in a few months and bringing all of my loved ones from Oklahoma/Texas area to San Diego. Ugh, I need to stop and go to sleep before I get emotional.
